IoT
IoT (Internet of Things) describes a network of connected physical “things” that, through embedded sensors, software, and other technologies, enable data exchange between devices and the cloud over the internet. The definition of IoT has evolved over the years to include additional techniques and technologies such as cloud computing, real-time analytics, and ML/AI.
In the maintenance world, IoT most often refers to the potential unlocked by the number and accessibility of sensors and measurements on each machine. Today, many machines are sold with built-in sensors and ready-to-use APIs, making it easy to connect and retrieve data. This allows you to analyze that data to keep machines performing at the required standards.
To achieve maximum synergy and fully leverage IoT, several enterprise systems must be integrated: SCADA, CMMS, and ERP.
As part of our IoT solutions, we offer integration with your existing SCADA controllers and sensors, as well as the temporary deployment of wireless sensors on equipment for issue detection. This approach requires no additional infrastructure (power or network); the sensors operate entirely on built-in batteries. For full functionality, only one centralized location with power access is needed to supply the communication router linking the sensors.
Available sensors include:
- Temperature sensor
- Vibration sensor
- Current flow sensor
- Rotational speed sensor
The combined use of these sensors ensures full integration with SimplyMobile CMMS, enabling in-system analytics and insights.
